NORTH WILTS & DISTRICT YOUTH & MINOR LEAGUE: While the weather improved this weekend the league still suffered 36 postponements as teams were hit with illness.

This heavy loss of fixtures on the back of a month of frozen pitches sees some teams now at crisis point with their fixtures, with a number of teams having games scheduled on the Saturday of Easter weekend to try and get the games in.

The league is so concerned with the fixture position that a letter is scheduled to be issued to clubs this week regarding the position and also as to how rules surrounding postponed games will be strictly interpreted and applied for the remainder of the season to get the league completed.

In addition a number of teams who have now called off an excessive number of games are being instructed to attend a meeting with the League Management Committee to discuss their fixture position and their propensity to call games off.

Under 18 In the games that were played leaders Chippenham Wanderers went a step nearer to the league title with a 3-1 win over Wootton Bassett Town in a dress rehearsal for the cup semi-final between the two sides.

North Swindon Panthers went into second place following a 6-0 home win over Blunsdon Colts, Craig Taylor hit a hat-trick, Luke Coxhead scored twice and there was one for Martyn Knapman.

Chalford won the battle of the bottom two and climbed into seventh place in the process, winning 5-3 at Cirencester Town.

Under 16 The matches involving the top two were both postponed.

Third-placed Kingsdown United closed the gap at the top of the table with a narrow 1-0 win over Shaw.

Wootton Bassett Town went into fourth place following a 5-1 home win over Croft Juniors.

Bassett took the lead through a Dan Strange header from a corner. Bassett extended their lead when Phil Forster was upended in the box and picked himself up to dispatch the penalty into the top corner of the net.

Bassett were then awarded another penalty that was superbly saved by Croft keeper Dave Cluett.

Croft got themselves back into the match when Matthew Elliman scored from a free kick.

Second half goals from Tom Marchment, Philip Forster and Aaron Stevens gave Bassett all three points.

Juventus Juniors won their derby game at Lydiard Park 2-0, Karl Houghton and John Guy getting the all-important goals.

Cricklade Youth continued their recent improved form with a 4-0 away win at Lydiard Youth.

Wroughton B met stablemates Wroughton C at Maunsell Way. While Wroughton B won 4-1, it was a close affair with Wroughton C making their club colleagues work hard for the points. Ben Curtis fired a hat trick and James Cox added a fourth, Sam Pill replying for Wroughton C.

Under 15 It was a day of shocks in the Under 15 Division. There was no surprise at Stratton as Stratton Juniors B went joint top of the table with a comprehensive 8-0 win over Shrivenham & Watchfield.

George Drewitt fired a hat-trick, Ryan Thomas netted twice, James Prictor, Bradley Williams and Harry Heath added the other goals.

The first shock saw Shaw win 2-0 away at Swindon Soccer Skills, Nathan Ifill and Elliott Corp scoring for Shaw.

Second-placed Brunel Boys missed out on the chance to go joint top with AFC Barbury and Stratton Juniors B when they lost 6-3 at home against Ferndale Rodbourne.

Lee Gratton (3), Chris Cummings, Dan Bond and Ashley McKeever did the damage for Ferndale Rodbourne, Wade Dixon, Rob James and an own goal responding for Brunel.

There was a rare 0-0 draw between Croft Juniors and Fairford.

Under 14 Division 1 Fairford went joint top of the table with a comprehensive 13-0 win over Liden Community.

Star of the show was Todd Hathaway who hit five goals, James Skinner helped himself to a hat-trick, Dan Lloyd (2), Troy Weaven (2) and Michael Birtwistle getting the other goals.

Ferndale Rodbourne closed the gap to the leaders with a 4-1 away win at Stratton Juniors A, Matthew Leonard getting the consolation goal for Stratton.

Old Town United and Greenmeadow shared the points in a one all draw, Kristian Scott netting for Old Town, Justin Bird replying for Greenmeadow.

Under 14 Division 2 Swindon Soccer Skills went joint top of the table but were made to work hard by Wootton Bassett Town, 3-2 the final score.

Tom Melton-Ruddock scored twice and there was one for Oumar Balde.

Bottom of the table Stratton Youth came close to securing their first point of the season away at Stratton Juniors B, losing 2-1, Jamie Fennell and Dan Thatcher scoring for Stratton.

Brunel Boys and Sherston shared the points, 2-2 the final score, James Little and James Clifford netting for Brunel Boys.

Shrivenham & Watchfield had a comprehensive 8-2 away win at Blunsdon Colts.

Under 13 Division 1 The top two did not play but third placed Stratton Juniors B lost ground when they went down 3-1 at home against Wroughton, Jack Savage, Oli Armstrong and Scott Currie scoring for Wroughton.

Ferndale Rodbourne maintained their 100 per cent record with a 7-1 away win at Cricklade Youth.

Another side having a big win were Brunel Boys who won 8-1 away at Greenmeadow courtesy of goals from Adam Huggins (2), Shannon Pocock (2), Ben Valentine (2), Liam Ody and Jake Atkin, Louis Wollen replied for Greenmeadow.

Nathan Hudson continued his fine goal scoring record after joining Liden with four more against Wootton Bassett Town.

Wootton Bassett led 3-0 at one time before Tyler Lane got Liden back into the game with two goals. Jason McGovern added a seventh for Liden.

Under 13 Division 2 Just two games were played and one saw Lydiard Youth go joint top after a 4-1 away win at AFC Lydiard, Jack Tyler (2), Dan Stretton and Chris Balfe with the Lydiard goals.

Old Town United won the battle of the bottom two sides with a 7-0 away win at Highworth Juniors B, Ben Smith and Chris Rose both hitting hat-tricks, Freddy Andrews adding a seventh.

Under 12 Division 1 Match of the day saw second-placed Ferndale Rodbourne meet third placed Greenmeadow at Ferndale and it was the home side who came out on top by the odd goal in five, Jamie Pidgeon, Chris Jones and Bradley Ray doing the damage for Ferndale.

Croft Juniors A went fourth following a 3-0 home win over Lydiard Youth, goals from Shaun James and Phillip Jones and an own goal securing the points for Croft.

Old Town United A are fifth and still very much in the title race following a 6-3 away win at Wroughton, Zach Niester (3), Wesley Perry, George Bouverie-Brine and Jake Manton for Old Town, Ali Ghulam, Joe Shepherd and James Harden for Wroughton.

Under 12 Division 2 THERE were new leaders of the division as Wootton Bassett's game at Liden was postponed.

Malmesbury took full advantage as they won 6-2 at home against Stratton Youth, Matthew Coote firing a hat-trick, Robin Collier, Sam Wilkins and Ryan Ratcliffe with the other Malmesbury goals.

Third-placed Croft Juniors B had the biggest win of the day hitting 13 without reply at home against Ramsbury. Goals for Jamie Howitt-Bowdidge (3), Luke Carter (2), Dean Daville (2), Alex Psarras, Daryl Hale, Conor Trinci, Ben Blizzard, James Lee and Jozef Pres.

It was a tight affair between AFC Lydiard and Shaw, AFC Lydiard edging it by the odd goal in three, Elis Garland and Scott Loudon netting for AFC Lydiard.

Fairford had a comprehensive 8-3 win over Hungerford Town, Callum Parker-Stubbs (3), Dean Woolgar (2), Justin Francis, Bryce Clarke and Taylor Chalmers doing the damage.

Under 12 Division 3 Leaders Marlborough Town maintained their 100 per cent record with a 3-1 away win at Highworth Juniors B.

Ashton Keynes stay second after a 2-1 home win over Highworth Town, Jon Barham and Sam Rowan getting the goals.

Old Town United kept on their heels in third spot with a 3-2 away win at Greenmeadow B, Harry Leigh (2) and Dwaine Barrett for Old Town, Connor Dettmar with both Greenmeadow goals.

Under 11 North It was almost a complete programme for once in the top Under 11 Division.

Greenmeadow took advantage of Wootton Bassett Town's inactivity to open up a six-point lead following a 5-0 win over Croft Juniors A.

On target for the leaders were Callum Fitzgerald, Charlie Dickinson, Connor Waldron, Harry Trott and Daniel Dicks.

Siddington stay third after a 4-0 home win over Marlborough Town A, Dan Warriner (2), Jack Ayres and Fraser Gardiner with the Siddington goals.

Ferndale are just behind in fourth place following a 6-1 away win at Lydiard Youth, Ryan Baxter with a hat-trick, Stuart Fraser hitting two and Mani Roper adding a sixth.

Ashton Keynes and Stratton Juniors shared the points following a 1-1 draw, Oli Byrnes with the Ashton Keynes goal.

Under 11 West Second-placed Malmesbury missed the chance to go top of the table when they went down 2-1 at home against Liden Community, Tim Ogu and Vinny Rayner with the Liden goals, Max Charman netting for Malmesbury.

Purton won by the odd goal in five at home to Highworth Juniors, Jack Duffy, Chris Middlecoate and Peter Ellis with the Purton goals.

Cricklade Youth flew the flag for the West Division in the cup quarter -final when they defeated Hungerford Town from the North Division, 3-1 the final score, Jon McDonald (2) and Jordan Read for Cricklade, Sebastian Buck for Hungerford.

Under 11 Central The top two opened up a gap at the head of the table. Leaders Tetbury all but ended Shaw's title challenge with a 3-0 away win courtesy of goals from Anthony Hillman (2) and Danny Bennett.

Goals from Jake Roffey, Jake Kitchin and Robert Lock gave Westbrook a 3-0 away win at Croft Juniors B.

A hat-trick from Elliott Yarwood together with a brace from Oliver Attwood and strikes from Vito Faircloth and Luke Whittington gave Coleshill Juniors a 7-1 home win over Shrivenham & Watchfield.

Penhill Knights stay in sixth place after a 6-2 away win at Wanborough, Connor Cooke (3), Zak Keegan, Ryan Beauchamp and Laura McGlone for Penhill, Callum Blunt and Oliver Powell for Wanborough.

Under 10 North Just one game survived and that saw a solitary goal from Joe Baldwin give Greenmeadow A all three points at home against Croft Juniors A.

Under 10 West Wickham Wanderers opened up a 17-point lead at the top of the table as Highworth Juniors once again postponed their fixture.

William Herrington (2) and Charlie De Fraine did the damage for the league leaders and title favourites.

Third-placed Swindon Soccer Skills lost the chance to close the gap when they went down 2-3 at home against FC Abbey Meads, Scott Garrett with both goals for Soccer Skills.

Under 10 Central Just one game survived and this saw Penhill Knights win by the odd goal in five away at Blunsdon Colts B, Juris French and Harry Rutherford-Roke scoring for Blunsdon, Tyler Rudman (2) and Ashley Wiseman scoring for Penhill.

Under 10 South Shrivenham & Watchfield went joint second with a 2-0 win over Ramsbury, William Pearson on target for Shrivenham.

Callum Garlick, Josh Rowland and an own goal helped Wootton Bassett Town to all three points at home to Hungerford Town, 3-2 the final score.
