WOMEN'S & GIRLS FOOTBALL: In the battle for third place in the Wiltshire County Women's and Girls' League, Swindon Spitfires under 14s saw off their nearest challengers Wootton Bassett 6-2.

The home side edged ahead in the fifth minute. Georgia Leonard won the ball and fed Sammie Smith to net.

Jenna McFadzean sprinted clear and calmly placed the ball into the net to pull the game level.

Three minutes after the break Spitfires regained the lead when Emma Skinner charged down a goalkick and quickly fired the ball back goalwards.

Four minutes later the home side edged further ahead when Jenny Gray sent Smith clear.

A shot from distance by Skinner made it 4-1.

McFadzean reduced the deficit with a sublime lob over New.

But Smith fed Skinner down the middle for the latter to shoot high into the net, then Gray rounded the scoring off in the final minute with a deserved goal.

Player of the match Gray had been working tirelessly all game causing the Bassett defence all sorts of problems.
