IFFY Onuora says it is no coincidence that all the fresh faces he has brought in have been absorbed quickly and positively into the County Ground dressing room.

The manager not only wants good footballers, he wants characters who won't upset the apple cart.

To that end the County Ground chief does his homework on his signings before sealing a deal.

He is looking for individuals who can bring more than just footballing ability to the party.

Onuora, pictured above, said: "The lads who have come in recently, Lee Peacock, Paul Smith, Aaron Brown and Andy Gurney have fitted in ever so well.

"They're good people and good characters.

"They've settled in with the rest of the lads really well.

"I was more than happy that they were made of the right stuff."

That would appear to be the view of the players themselves as they get used to life in their new surroundings.

Peacock is already on record as praising the unity in the camp and lack of cliques while Smith says he has been hugely impressed with life in Wiltshire barely three weeks after signing.

It is about taking a longer term view as well.

Onuora said: "You want the right person for the dressing room now but for any dressing room.

"Are they the right people for this year, next year and maybe beyond that?

"I think those are the sort of questions you have to ask yourself as a manager when you are trying to build something."

Town are holding a sporting dinner with former Southampton and England star Matthew Le Tissier at the County Ground on Wednesday, March 15.
