IT’S been a season of immense frustration for Lecsinel Jean-Francois, and Town’s Haitian centre-back has told fans he has a lot more to give.

After starting the campaign as Danny Wilson’s first-choice partner to Scott Cuthbert at the heart of Swindon’s defence, Jean-Francois fell victim to the County Ground’s injury jinx just three appearances into the term.

Two months on the sidelines soon followed, as the 24-year-old watched Sean Morrison step up from the bench to produce a series of commanding performances which helped the Robins see off Huddersfield and Southampton, both by 1-0 scorelines.

But, despite admitting he is not quite at full fitness, the former PSG youngster has recovered his spot in Wilson’s matchday line-up - and says he is ready to prove how good he can be.

“It’s always a pleasure when you get back in the team,” said Jean-Francois.

“I’ve had two months off but now I’m feeling good. I’m getting better.

“I’m still not 100 per cent like in pre-season but I’m still doing my job, so to get fit quicker is possible.

“I can still do much better. People around me have said I’ve done enough to say I’ve done a great job and this pleases me but I know I can do much better.

“That’s why I never stay on what I’ve done before and keep going to do much better in the future.”

With his current contract due to expire in the summer, Jean-Francois is desperate for game time to impress Wilson and assistant manager Peter Shirtliff, as he hopes to one day ply his trade in England’s highest division.

And after overcoming the setbacks of ankle, groin and hamstring troubles over the course of the past 10 weeks, the defender is hopeful of continuing the significant progress he has made since relocating from across the Channel a little under two years ago.

“I can see the progression I’ve done,” he said.

“When I was in France, I was always looking to play in England. So now I’m happy.

“I was without a club when I came and I tried to show what I can do during one reserve game.

“Now I’m trying to get better and play in the best league.

“(Being injured) is a big frustration because when you start the season you’re looking to play the most games you can and try to improve for the manager and show why he’s got the confidence in you.

“But it’s your life when you get an injury in football, so I took my time to get fit. Unfortunately I’ve been injured for two months with three different injuries. Now it’s over, I’m looking forward to the next few games.”
