  • NORTH Wilts League Under 10s representative squad enjoyed tough games against Swindon Town and Gloucester Reps at the Swindon Town Festival last week.

The first game of a round robin tournament, hosted by Swindon Town Centre of Excellence, saw the North Wilts side win 4-2 against Swindon Town. Finley Merchant, Joe Tyson and Danny Skinner put North Wilts into a 3-1 lead before goalkeeper Harvey George scored direct from a drop kick from within his own area.

In the second match, against a strong Gloucester team, Joe Tyson scored twice to put North Wilts ahead at half time. But North Wilts tired in the second period against a fresh Gloucester team, playing their first game of the tournament, and lost 3-2.

North Wilts: Harvey George, Toby Kutassy, Ethan Bond, Joseph Slack, Harrison Lea, Finley Thompson, Harry Drag, Finley Merchant, Joe Tyson, Daniel Skinner and Harvey Jupp.

  • IN THE under 11 category at the same event, the North Wilts side started with a clash against the Swindon Town Centre of Excellence.

A second-half goal in Swindon’s favour was enough to separate the sides come the end of the match.

Against a robust Gloucester League team, North Wilts fell behind to a set-piece goal from a corner, before Joe Liddington levelled.

Somewhat against the run of play, Gloucester scored their second after some sloppy play by the North Wilts team down the left, and the game looked all but over when a penalty was awarded to Gloucester for a trip inside the box.

However, keeper Conor Chivers saved the spot kick and, with seconds remaining, Sam Brewster smashed a long-range equaliser.

North Wilts: Conor Chivers, Will Gage, Joe Liddington, Sam Brewster, Oliver Hopegood, Tom Pudifoot, Jayden Handel, Ashley Prim, Ethan Fishlock, Oliver Matthews, James Thomas, Reilly Harris, Finn Pannell.
