SWINDON interim chairman Jeremy Wray has revealed that Michael Timlin and Lecsinel Jean-Francois are two of the nine out of contract players the club are keen to tie down for next season.

Wray yesterday said that the majority of those whose current deals expire in the summer will leave the club, allowing new boss Paolo Di Canio plenty of flexibility to shape his own squad.

Timlin is one of only two players that were on Town’s books the last time the club was in League Two and his experience at that level will no doubt be welcome.

But Town appear to face competition for the former Fulham trainee, with a Southend source disclosing that Timlin is also one of a number of players attracting interest from former boss Paul Sturrock.

The Scot first brought Timlin to the Robins back in 2006 and also took him on loan to Shrimpers for a spell last season.

Wray has so far been unable to contact Timlin, who is believed to be currently on holiday, but is hopeful of keeping him at the County Ground for a further year, along with Lecsinel and youngsters Mark Scott and Nathan Thompson.

“The majority of those out of contract will be leaving, but Lecs and Tims are two that we would like to keep for next season,” Wray told the Advertiser.

“We have tried to speak with Michael, but have not yet been able to get through to him.”

Wray also confirmed that he has so far not had any further requests from Swindon's under contract players for moves away from the club following David Prutton’s departure to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.
