JONATHAN Smith has had his move officially confirmed by Swindon Town today.

As revealed by the Advertiser last week, Smith became one of Paolo Di Canio's first signings for the club following the capture of Joe Devera, with both signing two-year deals.

At least one more signing is expected in the coming days, with possibly another arriving before the end of the week. Both players are believed to be strikers.

Devera, meanwhile, is known for his versatility in defence, but the 24-year-old has his eye solely on claiming one of the centre back spots at Swindon.

The 24-year-old has little competition at the moment for the position, following the departures of Scott Cuthbert and Lecsinel Jean-Francois recently.

“I would normally say I play both centre back and right back but I want to stamp down centre back position, that is where I want to play,” he said.

Following a number of departures in recent weeks, the Advertiser understands that there could soon be some optimistic news on the future of Michael Timlin.

The midfielder, also the subject of interest of Southend United, is the final player the club are waiting on to decide whether or not to accept the offer of a new deal at Town.
