SWINDON MANOR suffered their third loss this season in the East Region of the Wessex League as they went down 81-70 to Oxford and District.
However, Manor recorded victories on three of the four rinks, with Geoff Porte (eight shots), Carl Fernandes (two shots) and Stuart Murray (two shots) taking the honours.
However, the rink skipped by Richard Young crashed to a heavy 33-10 defeat, tipping the scales in Oxford & District’s favour by 11 shots.
Manor still managed to collect six of the 16 points on offer for their three rink wins to draw level third in the East Region table on 26 points with three other clubs, including local rivals Westlecot and Loddon Vale, who meet this Sunday morning.
Those two sides were the top teams in the East Region last term, with Basingstoke side Loddon pipping the Old Town-based club to top spot on the final day of the campaign.
This season, Westlecot and Loddon Vale have only played two games each and are the only unbeaten teams in the East Region.
