WILTSHIRE County Cricket Club have named Tom Morton as the county’s new head coach, a role that will see him manage and coach the county first and second teams.

Morton will deliver winter coaching programmes for both sides and lead the teams’ coaching on match days during the summer.

Wiltshire want to ensure there is a consistent culture developed across both teams to ensure a smooth transition for players coming up from age group cricket in to the senior teams.

As a player, Morton has represented Wiltshire for 12 seasons and has most recently been the Director of Cricket at Ealing CC and worked with Middlesex.

Previously working at Solent University as a sports development officer, he also captained South Wilts CC to four Southern Premier League titles.

Wiltshire Cricket managing director Pete Sykes said: “We are delighted with the appointment of Tom.

“This new position represents an opportunity for the Cricket Board and county club to work more closely together to ensure that there is a consistency of culture and selection across our first and second XI teams.

“We also believe that Tom will be a great asset in terms of developing players moving out of U17 cricket and in to the minor county environment.

“It is wonderful to have someone of the playing quality of Tom in this role as the experience he will be able to offer to these players will be invaluable’
