SWINDON boxer Kelvin Young has vowed to come back with a bang when he returns to the ring later this month.

Young was stopped inside three rounds last month when he lost his English Middleweight Title eliminator fight against Tony Hill.

The former Penhill amateur admitted he has since gone “back to the drawing board” and says he will learn from the mistakes he made in his last fight.

“It’s a case of back to the drawing board after that fight,” admitted Young. “I’ve had a think about things and whether things need to change.

“As a whole team I think we need to up the game.

“We’ve done things spot on up until now but we maybe need to look at the future.”

Reflecting on the defeat, Young added: “He caught me with a decent shot and the ref stopped it which was fair enough.

“We both caught each other with good shots but when he got cut it changed the fight.

“I held my feet too much and I didn’t fight the right fight in the end. I need to learn from mistakes like that.”

Young will likely return to action with a six-round fight at KM Promotions’ next show at Gloucester’s GL1 Leisure Centre on Friday, November 23 and the 25-year-old says he wants a tough opponent.

“I’m looking for a good opponent,” added Young. “I want someone who has been winning. It should be a six-round fight to get me back on my feet.

“After that fight I’ll look to defend my Southern Area super-middleweight title.”

Further down the line Young also sees a potential rematch with Hill which the Swindon boxer hopes will be for the English title.

Said Young: “I hope Tony Hill goes on and wins the English title. If he does then it should be an easy rematch to make.

“He is a good lad and a good boxer so I wish him well.

“In the two fights I’ve lost I’ve just been caught with good shots. I’ve never been beaten up and be beaten by a good shot than getting schooled for 10 or 12 rounds.

“There’s no doubting my ability, I’ve just been a little bit unlucky. I’ll bounce back bigger and better for sure.”
