WALCOT ABC’s Jordan O’Donoghue has been given an extra reason to win her contest at the club’s show on Friday night – it’s now a championship decider.

The 15-year-old Dorcan schoolgirl was to meet Weymouth’s Chloe LePage at the Walcot show in a friendly bout, but now it’s become a Western Counties Schoolgirl Final, at Class 3 (56kgs).

Walcot chief coach Harry Scott explained: “Jordan and Chloe are the only entries in the schoolgirl championship for their age and weight, as there aren’t many schoolgirls in the south west up to the standard of a national competition.

“As both girls were due to meet at our show anyway, the organising committee decided to make this a Western Counties Final, and both clubs have agreed.

“Jordan is looking in good shape in the gym, and I’m confident that if she performs to her ability she will do well.”

Ahead of the contest, O’Donoghue said: “I haven’t boxed since last season so I’m really looking forward to getting in the ring on Friday night.

“Training has gone well, as well as the fitness work I have been sparring a lot with the lads. I know I’m fit and I feeling quietly confident.”

The Walcot show starts at 8pm on Friday at the Supermarine Sports and Social Club, South Marston. Admission is £10 on the door.
