TWO fighters, boxing out of Paddy Fitzpatrick’s Ferndale Road gym in Swindon, scored impressive victories on Saturday night at the Winter Gardens in Weston-Super-Mare, writes WILL HALE.

First, Bradley Townsend looked impressive in taking a convincing four-round decision over the tough Paul Cummings, from Warminster, at the Battle on the Beach show.

Unbeaten welterweight Townsend, still only 23, won every round against an awkward opponent, who massively eclipsed him in terms of experience. Townsend boxed from both the orthodox and southpaw stances at times and used fast and balanced approach to force the contest while not taking any unnecessary chances.

Meanwhile, fellow welterweight Harry Webb made it five wins in six fights as he overcame a nasty cut on the bridge of the nose to convincingly outpoint Brierley Hill veteran MJ Hall over the four-round duration.

Webb controlled the range well and scored with heavy body attacks to register a clear and decisive victory.

Both Webb and Townsend will be supporting home town fighters Luke Watkins and Ryan Martin when boxing returns to Swindon’s Oasis Leisure centre at the Neilson Boxing-promoted Fight Town One show on April 27.
