GREAT Bedwyn continued their unbeaten season in Division One of the Wiltshire Cricket League with a 29-run victory over Chippenham 2nd.

Sam Tuttle starred with the bat as Bedwyn posted a challenging 221-9 from their 45 overs.

In response, Chippenham batsmen Paul Bates (48) and William Couzens (44) almost reached their half-centuries during the middle-order fightback, but Bedwyn’s bowlers all contributed as Chippenham were dismissed for 192.

Meanwhile, Avebury went level on points at the top thanks to a five-wicket win away at Marlborough.

Zak Tunmore (26) top-scored for Marlborough, but his side could only manage 109 before being bowled out.

And after taking 3-19 with the ball, Parag Khanpurkar then set about blasting 77 not out to see his side home with five wickets to spare.

Corsham 2nd beat Beckington by 136 runs to claim the biggest win of the weekend in Division One after opener Adam Mitchell struck 127 to set his side on their way towards 255-6.

The visitors never looked like getting close to their target in response and were bowled out for 119 inside 29 overs thanks to four wickets from Luke Draper and Ned Jones.

Nationwide House picked up a timely victory at home to Winsley – a strong bowling performance ensured Nationwide came out on top by 42 runs.

Jonathon Clarke’s 70 set Nationwide on their way to 160-9 before Winsley’s top-order collapse did not aid their prospective response.

Josh Lewis top scored with 22 as Winsley were all out for 118.

Swindon 2nd claimed a narrow 12-run victory over fellow strugglers Malmesbury to stay in touch at the bottom.

Half-centuries from John Baden (50) and Jamie Baden (78) set Swindon on their way to 223 all out with the home side being removed four balls from the end of their innings.

Malmesbury made a strong start to their reply as Michael Collison (33), Jack Ward (53) and Neil Ronyon (47) all contributed, but once they were removed, the rest of the Malmesbury batsmen struggled and Swindon claimed a vital win.

DIVISION TWO

Swindon United Churches recorded an emphatic 10-wicket victory away at Beehive Southwick.

Burbage batsman Garreth Robb struck 64 as his side posted 234-8 from their 45 overs before Haydon Amor claimed three wickets for 17 runs in the Bear Flat chase.

The visitors looked set to reach their target, but Amor’s bowling helped restrict runs at the end and Bear Flat finished just two runs shy.

Bassett’s Yasir Irshad was dismissed one shy of his half-century in reply, while only Josh Smith (67) managed to pass 50 as the home side fell short, ending their innings on 218-7.

David Novais recorded incredible figures of 5.5-4-4-5 as Wanborough crushed Corsham 3rd by eight wickets.

Novais’ five-for helped his fellow bowlers dismiss Corsham for 85 before John Baldwin (23), Alan Baldwin (11*) and Claise Fernandes (23*) comfortably saw Wanborough home.

Ramsbury recorded a 48-run victory at home to Melksham thanks to a magnificent century from Frederick Walker.

Walker’s 111, combined with David Edward-Smith’s 73, helped Ramsbury reach 248-7 despite Joe Veacock’s 4-45.

In response, only one Melksham batsman – Chris Singh (52) – made a score of note and the visitors were bowled out for exactly 200.

The result means Melksham remain in seventh.
