DARREN Beasant is determined to see Swindon's championship challenge through to the finish this summer as he looks to avoid the taste of bitter disappointment for the third year running.

Swindon played themselves into promotion contention in 2006 and 2007 before fading badly in the second half of the season, and Beasant is desperate to avoid a hat-trick of near misses.

The County Ground captain takes his troops to bogey team Marshfield tomorrow, where Swindon will be targeting a fifth win in six matches to keep the pressure on Glos/Wilts leaders Chippenham. .

"We are delighted with our league position after 10 games, but we were in a similar position the last two years and we tailed off towards the end," said Beasant.

"Whether that was due to the lack of a front line slow bowler or complacency on our part I don't know, but I'm determined not to let it happen again.

"We may have gone undefeated through the big four' games but that does not mean things are going to get any easier.

"In the second half of the season everyone is playing for something, be that the title or to avoid relegation, so there will be no easy matches.

"We've got Marshfield this weekend.

They turned us over twice last year and they have won their last four matches, so we will certainly not be taking them lightly."

Beasant will be forced to make two changes from the side that took the field against Biddestone last week, with spinner Matty Gumm and wicketkeeper Andy Staff, pictured, both unavailable.

Marlborough captain Nick Crabbe faces a similar selection dilemma ahead of tomorrow's clash with Chippenham, with four first team regulars absent.

John Carroll, Charlie Langton, George Fox, and Andy Bell will all miss the top versus bottom match at Savernake Forest.

"I'm not sure who we will bring in yet, but whoever does come in will obviously be very keen to prove themselves," said Crabbe.

"Chippenham are a very good all-round side, with a couple of stand-out players.

"Their overseas (Ryan Higgins) scored a very good century against us earlier this season after we managed to tie him down early on.

"We just need another win from somewhere.

"We seem to have lost all our momentum and we have to get it back.

"Nobody likes to be bottom of the table, but a win against the league leaders would give us a massive boost."
