SWINDON Supermarine were left to pay the penalty as they suffered a 3-2 defeat at Winchester City in Southern League West.

Having taken the lead, Marine were pegged back by the hosts’ first penalty of the game before they were reduced to 10-men when skipper Zac Westlake was dismissed for two bookable offences early in the second half.

Winchester took the lead soon after before Josh Parsons looked to have earned Marine a morale-boosting point before a second penalty of the night for the hosts condemned Dave Webb’s men to defeat.

Connor Thompson gave Marine a 16th minute left when his shot floated over the Winchester keeper in the far corner.

Barron drew the hosts level just before half-time when he fired home his first spot-kick of the night after Joe Shepherd had conceded the penalty.

Marine were then reduced to 10-men when Westlake was given his second yellow card of the night in the 47th minute.

Winchester quickly took advantage of having the extra and Oli Bailey fired his team into the lead with a fine solo goal.

Parsons drew the South Marston men level on 62 minutes with a well struck free-kick.

However, Winchester were awarded a second penalty of the night with four minute left on the clock and Barron again duly dispatched the spot-kick.
