WILTSHIRE driver Matt Hammond has won the Mini Challenge Pro Class after seven rounds and 18 races across the country’s top motorsport circuits.

After a sterling performance, with pole and two wins last time out at Donington Park, Hammond, who works as a senior technical support engineer in Swindon, just needed to stay on track for the remaining three races at Snetterton.

Narrowly missing out on pole by 0.042 seconds, he went on to get two fourth positions before adding a podium finish of third.

The self-funded Hammond said: “I wanted to finish with a podium and with the top five drivers finishing just 1.1 seconds apart shows how competitive the field has been this season.’’

Seven race wins, three second places, two pole positions, and seven fastest laps, including lap record at Silverstone National Circuit, helped propel him to the title.
