SWINDON Town's Academy manager Jeremy Newton has been removed from his post after "an internal investigation'', the club announced today.
Newton, who has worked at the club for well over a decade, has had his contract terminated with immediate effect after the club released a statement this lunchtime
The Town statement read: "Swindon Town Football Club can confirm that Academy Manager Jeremy Newton's employment has been terminated with immediate effect following an internal investigation into the Academy.
"At this time the club can make no further comment regarding this matter.''
Newton has guided many young players' early careers in his role at the County Ground club.
Last summer, as part of a restructuring of the club’s academy, Seamus Brady became the new Academy director at the club, heading up all youth sides at The County Ground from U6s to U18s.
In September, former Town favourite Lee Peacock returned to the club as the Academy's head of coaching, working under Brady and alongside Newton to oversee all aspects of coaching within the structure of the Academy.
Meanwhile, a youthful Town side including goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux went down to a 2-0 defeat in the Central League at Plymouth Argyle today.
