SWINDON lost ground on Go Crea8 League Conference North leaders West Wilts after they had to settle for just a point in a frustrating 1-1 draw away at Bristol University A at the weekend.

The visitors were forced to play catch-up as they went behind inside the opening two minutes following a Bristol short corner.

Swindon battled back into the game and had the lion’s share of the remainder of the half, with the forwards creating several sights at goal but kept at bay by good saves and also missed chances.

The second half saw Swindon continue to increase the pressure on the Bristol goal and they finally got their reward when a well-worked short corner was converted by Luke Cejer.

Swindon were not content with a point and continued to chase a winning goal but time was not on their side and in the end they had to make do with a draw.

Second-from-bottom side Newent are the visitors to Swindon this weekend as they bid to keep their promotion bid on track.

Swindon A continue to set the pace at the top of the East Central 1 table, although they dropped points for just the fourth time this season after a 3-3 draw at home to City of Bath B.

There was good news for Swindon B as they clawed themselves off the foot of the same table after a battling 3-2 win away at Bristol UWE A.

Swindon Ladies remain the closest challengers to West Club Women’s League Premier Division 2A leaders Team Bath Buccaneers 2 after a narrow 2-1 home win over Gloucester 2.

However, it was an afternoon to forget for Swindon 2 as they were thumped 8-1 by Devizes in Wessex Division 1.
