SWINDON Storm have taken another step towards their summer campaign after hosting two days of tryouts at the Swindome at Swindon Supermarine FC.

Storm staff took a second batch of hopefuls through a series of drills and assessments, while a further 20 new recruits tested themselves to see if they had what it takes to join the team.

A club record-breaking total of 48 potential new players have been put through their paces in the run-up to pre-season training.

Swindon are looking to build on a strong 2017 season, their most successful year in the National League's Divsion Two.

2018 will see the team move into the Southern conference as the South West has expanded, with the addition of the new Somerset Wyverns.

The move in conference will mean new rivalries with Portsmouth Destroyers, Bournemouth Bobcats, Hertfordshire Cheetahs and Hastings Conquerors.

The season starts in April, with the Storm senior team for ages 18+ training on Monday nights at Kingsdown School, Stratton St Margaret, SN27SH from 6.45pm to 9pm.

The venue is 3G rubber crumb artificial turf and players will need sports kit, a gumshield and £5 registration fee.

All other equipment is supplied and no previous experience is needed. For more information go to swindonstorm.org.
