THERE was an excellent turnout at Swindon Croquet Club last Sunday for the first tournament of the 2019 season.

Competitors were split into two teams – red and yellow – by tournament organiser Clive Smith, with each player then being involved in one doubles match and two singles matches.

Undeterred by the chilly conditions, all competitors competed enthusiastically, with several matches being very closely contested.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day, which culminated in Smith presenting the Two Tonys Trophy to the aptly named captain of the victorious yellow team, Tony Tomlin.

Swindon Croquet Club is always keen to recruit new members. The Club is based at Moredon Playing Fields and boasts impressive facilities, which include three full-size, immaculately maintained lawns and a modern, well-equipped clubhouse.

A warm welcome is guaranteed for anyone who wishes to give the game a try.
