ANGLING

THE 25 anglers at the Walters Lake Open would have been forgiven for thinking that it was winter again at the South Cerney match venue.

Cold winds and rain were on the cards for the latter half of the match.

Due to the numbers there were four sections. Mick End Peg' O'Brien lived up to his name and went straight to white peg 17 to net 67lb to wrap up the top end of the whites.

Simon Stacey meanwhile took the other end with 56lb 8oz.

The blues were won by Mark Baz at the bottom end showing his brother Baz the way with 63lb 12oz, while the top end was won by Chris Telling on blue 18 with 73lb 10oz.

The overall winner and first timer at the venue was Manor Farm expert Andy Pollard with an impressive 110lb 12oz.

In second place was northerner, Jason Gooch, again with 101lb 8oz of good size carp.

Andy Benwell managed 99lb 12oz for third.
