DAVID Howell will seek to end a tough run of results and make his first cut on the European Tour this season at the Qatar Open, which got under way this morning.

The Swindon golfer has played in three tournaments this year but arrives in Doha having failed to qualify for the weekend’s final two rounds at any of them.

Most recently, Howell finished in a tie for 103rd place at last week’s Oman Open, finishing on nine-over par after two rounds.

The 43-year-old’s best result in 2019 is a tied 67th finish at the Saudi International a month ago.

Broome Manor man Howell has not made a cut since last October’s Portugal Masters, heading home early at six tournaments in a row since then.

Howell teed off at Doha Golf Club at 5.05am GMT this morning, starting at the 10th alongside fellow Englishman Robert Rock and Denmark’s Jeff Winther.
