DAVID Howell concluded a successful if steady week by shooting one-under at day four of the British Masters, ensuring he ended the event in T42.
The Swindon golfer complimented rounds of level-par and two-under on the opening two days of the Hillside Golf Club hosted tournament with a pair of one-under rounds of days three and four.
Howell’s efforts ensured he made his first cut of what had been a poor 2019 European Tour campaign prior to this weekend’s competition.
The 43-year-old started his final round in fine form – earning birdies on two of the opening four holes to promote him to five-under overall.
Bogeys on holes 15 and 18 threatened to derail his progress though – leaving him three-under with nine holes remaining.
But a birdie on the first hole of the front nine promoted him back to up the rankings to four-under.
Eight successive pars concluded Howell’s round – who finished a season’s best T42.
Elsewhere, Jordan Smith impressed by shooting 11-under overall to finish sixth.
