SWINDON Wildcats made it a perfect weekend with as they came on strong in the final period to defeat Cardiff Fire 5-1 in NIHL South One.

Having claimed a 3-2 success over London Raiders at the Link Centre on Saturday night, Aaron Nell’s side headed for the Ice Arena Wales determined to back that win up.

Jordan Kelsall opened the scoring for the Cats in the first period as they visitors to a 1-0 lead into the interval.

Max Birbraer made it 2-0 to Swindon after he was put through to score by former Cardiff Devil Chris Jones before Fire reduced the deficit through David Manning.

Captain Jan Kostal restored the visitors two-goal advantage 30 seconds into the final period after latching on to a Kelsall pass.

Sam Zajac added a fourth for the Wildcats late on in the game before Kostal bagged his second and his team’s fifth to put the gloss on a hard-fought success.
