SWINDON Wildcats returned to winning ways in style last night as they swept Invicta Dynamos to one side in a 7-3 victory on the road.

The Cats had been in the midst of a dip in form following three straight league defeats in NIHL South One as well as Wednesday night’s 3-3 3-3 draw at home to Telford Tigers in the National Cup.

Skipper Jan Kostal was rested for the game, as he has just returned from an ankle injury.

Fellow import Max Birbraer got things going for the Wildcats, when he scored in the opening three minutes.

Toms Rutkis, who also played in their 3-3 draw with Telford Tigers on Wednesday night doubled their lead in the 10th minute before Jaroslav Cesky struck back for the hosts.

Player-coach Aaron Nell was on hand to re-establish a two-goal lead before Phil Hill weighed in with his second goal in two games, to make it 4-1 at the end of the first period.

In the second period, Chris Jones further enhanced Swindon’s position, with their fifth goal of the evening, timed at 33:01.

Brandon Webster then went some way to repair the damage as his brace made it 5-3 going into the final instalment.

Floyd Taylor then chipped in with his only goal of the night in the 48th minute, before Nell bagged his second of the night to complete the 7-3 score line.

Swindon will now turn their attention to Saturday's home clash with Streatham.
