SWINDON Robins' official supporters club has undergone a rebrand ahead of the 2018 campaign and added some new faces on their committee.

Formerly known as the Pit Crew, the newly-named ‘Robins Nest’ is hoping to increase events and member benefits and will also be taking over the junior activity at the club including the impending launch of the  ‘5-1 Junior Robins Membership’.

Joining supporters club committee stalwarts Darcia Gingell and Rita Poole, will be lifelong Robins fans Vivien Hansford, Charlotte Rabey, Helen Osborne and Marie Osbourne Matthews, along with Robins commercial manager Lee Kilby.

“Darcia and Rita have been organising and running the Supporters Clubs for many years now and have always done such a wonderful job” said Kilby.

“I personally wanted to get involved, firstly as I am a Robins fan and want to do my bit to help promote the club from the terraces, and secondly from a commercial viewpoint.

"I can see such benefit from the club having a vibrant active supporters club. It will only aid my role as commercial manager having a busy supporters club out and about in the town.”

“We’ve had our first meeting as a committee and it was great to see the energy and ideas that the group generated.

"The main aim is to increase the supporters club membership base by setting out a timeline of events that gets fans of all ages involved.

"Ultimately, the goal is to increase and generate funds in a fun way, to be able to support our riders on track when and if they hit a financial sticky patch.”

Referring to the name change, Gingell added: “We just felt it needed a change.

"The name has worked well over the years, even if it hasn’t been my favourite name.

"We voted unanimously to be renamed the Robins Nest and we were also aware that some supporters suggested the name too. I’m excited for the season ahead.”

The first Robins Nest event of 2018 will be a speedway themed Quiz Night on Thursday, February 8 at The Southbrook Inn pub (SN2 1HF) - now run by Robins team boss Alun Rossiter - starting at 7.30pm.

Everyone is welcome and teams can be put together on the night.

Robins Nest renewals and application forms for 2018 will be available on the night priced £10, with those signing up for membership on the night receiving a £2 discount. Monthly payment and contribution options are available.
