REIGNING world champion Tai Woffinden will spearhead Great Britain’s quest for Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations glory after team manager Alun Rossiter confirmed his squad for the competition.

Rossiter, who is also team manager of Swindon Robins in the SGB Premiership, has named Woffinden, Craig Cook and Robert Lambert in his side as they bid to build on the silver medal they won in Wroclaw last summer. Chris Harris and Dan Bewley complete the GB squad.

Robins captain Jason Doyle will also be in action after being named captain of the Australian side for the event.

GB and Australia will go head-to-head in the competition in their quest to reach the Speedway of Nations Finals, facing off in Race Off 2 in Manchester on May 11.

The Brits and Aussies are up against Denmark, USA, Latvia, France and Finland at the National Speedway Stadium, with three places up for grabs in the finals at Russian race track Togliatti on July 20 and 21.

The top two teams in Manchester join hosts and defending champions Russia at the Finals in Togliatti, with the teams placed third to fifth racing off for the last place.

The Finals field will also feature three nations who advance from Race Off 1 in Landshut, Germany on May 4, which sees Germany, Poland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ukraine and Italy compete.
