SWINDON Robins skipper Jason Doyle takes his bid for a first podium finish of the year in the Speedway Grand Prix series back to Poland for this weekend’s Wroclaw GP.

Australian ace Doyle has a best finish of fourth place from four rounds in 2019, qualifying for the final at the Czech GP in Prague back in mid-June.

The 2017 world champion is currently eighth in the standings on 30 points, 17 adrift of the three-way tie at the top.

Russian Emil Sayfutdinov, Poland’s Patryk Dudek and Danish rider Leon Madsen have all notched up 47 points from four GPs so far to set the pace at the head of the leaderboard.

Doyle will be hoping to bridge some of that gap when the championship resumes at the Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw on Saturday.

This weekend’s meeting will give Doyle a first taste of Grand Prix racing at the venue, with Wroclaw having not hosted a round of the world championship since 2007.

The fixture is one of three in the country in 2019. Doyle collected five points at the opening round in Warsaw back in May, while Torun hosts the season finale in October.

Meanwhile, the Robins have had their date with destiny in the SGB Premiership Supporters Cup confirmed as they are set to take on Belle Vue Aces across two legs in the final in September.

The Robins will travel to the National Speedway Stadium on Thursday, September 12, for the first leg before hosting the decider at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday, September 19.

As a result, Swindon’s home Premiership meeting against Poole Pirates has been rearranged for Thursday, August 22.
