PORT Vale manager Neil Aspin has made an early addition to his squad in the January transfer window after signing striker Dior Angus on an 18-month contract.

The 23-year-old began his career at Solihull Moors, before more recently representing Redditch United this season.

The frontman had already notched 17 times for the Southern League Premier Division side so far this term.

Aspin said: “We’re hoping he can progress here but there’s no pressure as he’s got to step up a few leagues, but he’s got some potential.”

  • FOREST Green Rovers have also dipped into the transfer market, as they confirmed the signings of Dayle Grubb from Weston-Super-Mare and York City’s Alex Whittle.

Rovers owner Dale Vince says there could be more fresh faces arriving at the New Lawn as they look to climb out of the League Two relegation zone.

“I think, by Saturday, we’ll have half a dozen fresh faces at the club and hopefully that’ll be enough,” said Vince.

“We have to be optimistic. We get the chance to bring some fresh players in and pull ourselves out of the drop zone.”

  • LINCOLN City have secured the services of Danny Rowe after he made a loan switch from Ipswich Town.

The 25-year-old, who has previously played for Macclesfield Town and Stockport County, had previously been training with the Imps.

  • MANSFIELD Town manager Steve Evans has issued a ‘hands-off’ warning to clubs chasing the signature of Alfie Potter.

The winger has struggled to nail down a first-team place since arrive at the One Call Stadium from Northampton Town last summer.

However, after a dazzling display against Carlisle United on New Year’s Day, Evans has said the 28-year-old is firmly in his plans.

“We’ve been waiting for hime to display the type of performances why we signed him and why we love Alfie Potter,” he said.

“It’s why I have said no to four or five clubs in the last two weeks about taking the wee man because he can give you so much.”
