INTERIM boss Matt Taylor has hinted that Scott Twine will be handed a chance to make an impact on the remainder of Swindon Town's season after revealing his admiration for the teenage striker's abilities.

One of the final acts of David Flitcroft's rein at the County Ground was the recall of Twine from a second loan spell of the season at National League South side Chippenham Town as injuries continued to bite the squad.

Twine, who has made one senior appearance for Town as a second-half substitute in Town's 3-0 defeat by Charlton Athletic on the final day of last season, had scored five times in total for the Bluebirds this season, including the winner against Bognor Regis Town last month.

He netted four times in 10 appearances in an earlier stint for Mark Collier's side late last year before returning to Town and sitting on the bench for the Boxing Day defeat by Luton Town and New Year's Day win at Barnet.

Twine is out of contract this summer, but whether Taylor remains in charge of Town for long or not, he hopes the 18 year old will have a part to play in the League Two run-in.

“I hope he’s taken advantage of it,'' said Taylor, of Twine's Chippenham spells.

“Scott has been at the football club a while. He’s a very good finisher and a nice young man which is important nowadays, he’s a nice person – quite quiet.

“But he’s waited a long time to get his opportunity with the first team.

“I’m excited to see between now and the end of the season, regardless whether I’m sat here or with a shirt on, how he develops because there’s an opportunity for him to play some football and score some goals.''

Taylor added: “I really like Scott, his attitude is spot on.

“I think he’s out of contract in the summer so we’ll see where we go with that.”

Taylor's stunning free-kick for Swindon Town in the 3-2 defeat by Wycombe Wanderers is a contender for the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month Award for February.

The long-range rocket, one of four goals he has notched for Town this season, faces competition for the honour from Notts County's Noor Husin and Cheltenham Town midfielder Joe Morrell.

It follows Town striker Marc Richards winning the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award for February.

The winners of the Sky Bet EFL Goals of the Month are chosen via a fan poll on skysports.com, with voting now open and closing on at 6pm on Tuesday, March 13

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports' EFL expert Don Goodman, Sky Bet Sponsorship Executive Michael Holinski and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.

Town's postponed League Two clash against Yeovil Town will now take place next month.

The visit of the Glovers to the Energy Check County Ground has been rearranged for Tuesday, April 10 (7.45pm) after the original clash last Saturday was called off after heavy snowfall and due to a frozen pitch

Supporters who have already purchased a ticket for the fixture will be able to use it to attend the rearranged fixture, while previously purchased tickets can also be collected from the STFC Store prior to the new date.

The club will move their 'Bring A Friend For A Tenner' promotion to another game this season.
