SWINDON Town Official Supporters Club pen their penultimate column before the start of the League Two season on the day Clem Morfuni is confirmed as the new owner of Swindon Town Football Club.

Firstly, consider this a reminder that we’re running the first Alan McLoughlin Memorial Walking Football Tournament for over 40’s on Sunday, August 22, in conjunction with the STFC Community Foundation.

It’s only £50 entry per team and all funds raised will be split between Prospect Hospice and Head for Change.

Since our last article a fortnight ago, we were all hoping for some positive news regarding the takeover by Clem Morfuni and the Axis group.

As luck would have it, that wonderful day has arrived on the same day our column was due in the Adver Sport inbox.

We now look forward to seeing what our new owner, manager, director of football, and chief executive officer have to say about the future of our club in Thursday evening’s press conference at the County Ground.

Hopefully now Clem is in the club, the transfer embargo can be removed and we can begin signing players as preparations for the new season hastily take place.

After these past few tense and worrying weeks as Swindon Town supporters, we hope that this is indeed the light at the end of the tunnel.

As the Official Supporter’s Club, we will try and keep you all updated as and when any announcements are made.

We broadcasted a special Monday Night Panel on Wednesday to take us through the details of the announcement and hopefully this platform will be a successful way of keeping everyone updated as the season goes on.

Having said all of the above, it really is quite sobering and frightening to think that the next Town Talk from the OSC will be published just two days before our opening fixture away at Scunthorpe.

Who knows what will happen before then and what kind of management and playing staff will be in place. Fasten those seatbelts - it’s going to be one hell of a ride!
