SWINDON Town Supporters Trust board member Alex Pollock updates Adver Sport on the latest goings on inside the group and reflects on a magical opening weekend of competitive football under Clem Morfuni’s ownership.

You’d be forgiven if there was ever a time over the last couple of months where you might not have thought this Saturday was going to happen. So much has happened that we could dwell on, but it’s now time we all look to the future as a united force.

This new era and a new chapter in the story of STFC well and truly kicked off officially last weekend, and we have so much admiration for the 800+ supporters who made the 400 mile round trip from SN1 to make their voices heard against Scunthorpe. Taking home the three points was the icing on the cake.

We now need the loyal fanbase and the wider community to come together again this weekend and pack out The County Ground, as we take on Carlisle. The Official Supporters Club is encouraging fans to wear red, and we’re working with GWReds on a pre-match tifo in the Don Rogers Stand to celebrate! Bring a friend, and tell that friend to bring a friend too.

2021/22 season tickets are selling well, and we’re over half way in the race to 6k. A real credit to those renewing, and we’re hearing plenty of stories of new sales for those who have had a hiatus for some time. As well as being able to purchase these from the ground, you can also secure yours over the phone and, as of this week, online too.

As your Supporter’s Trust, our work never stops. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been capturing feedback from the fanbase, and sharing with the club to ensure they have a full understanding of what our members think. We’re always here to listen if you have anything you’d like to raise with us, or for us to raise with the club on your behalf.

We’re also looking at a range of future initiatives too, like how we can best work with local schools and youth football groups, and improvements to the matchday experience. One of our key priorities next is to work collaboratively and at pace with the club and Swindon Borough Council regarding the acquisition of The County Ground - something we hope to be able to update fans on in the coming weeks and months.

But for now, let’s all make our way to SN1 this Saturday to welcome the boys back home!
