ADVER Sport assess the performances of the Swindon Town players following the club’s 3-1 victory against Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.

Lewis Ward: 7

A quieter day’s work for Ward tonight – he made a couple of very good saves and dealt with everything that came his way, except for the goal. No criticisms for the goal though.

Rob Hunt: 7

When Town were rocking going forward, Hunt made several positive runs to help. Mayor and Gillesphey made it a tough 60 minutes, but the full back did his reputation no harm. Subbed.

Akin Odimayo: 7

His speed shut down almost everything Plymouth tried over the top and forced the hosts to play in front of Town. Hopefully his injury is not too serious because he is important to Town’s style and defensive stability. Subbed.

Mathieu Baudry: 7

Overall, it was a pretty encouraging to return to action for Baudry despite a silly yellow card and a poor piece of defending for the goal. Admittedly, that sounds contradictory, but other than those two moments I was impressed with the majority of the Frenchman’s play. Booked.

Romoney Crichlow: 7

Crichlow was nice and aggressive towards his opponent and battled away despite picking up a slight knock in the second half. His confidence was evident throughout too with a driving run or two.

Mo Dabre: 7

You cannot fault his endeavour in a position that was unnatural to him. Lindsey said afterwards that the thought behind him playing there was similar to when Nathan Byrne was at Swindon – he’s a winger but it can work. Dabre didn’t let his team down, that’s for sure.

Ryan East: 7

East did an excellent job of playing in Louis Reed’s role, showing some nice touches and awareness to keep play ticking. Another one who appears as if he could slot into the first team, no problem.

Jordan Lyden: 7

On his first start, it looked as though Lyden had never been away. Aggression, good footwork, a desire to get beyond the strikers – he played slightly further forward than usual but enjoyed a strong first 60 minutes back. Subbed.

Ricky Aguiar: 7

The former non-league player stepped into a tough game but arguably stood out as one of Town’s best players. A mazy run and shot was the highlight for the creative midfielder.

Harry Parsons: 6

Parsons created the first goal with some intelligent play, but overall he didn’t affect the game much and was regularly knocked off the ball. A short loan spell away could do him the world of good.

Jayden Mitchell-Lawson: 8

A tame first half threatened to frustrate Mitchell-Lawson, but a tactical tweak at the break allowed the striker to show what he can do. His speed is a real asset, and it was a super finish to boot.

SUBSTITUTES

Ellis Iandolo: 6

Iandolo came on as Town began to turn the screw so was not required to defend much. A quiet cameo but certainly not a bad one.

George Cowmeadow: 6

Involved in a couple of encouraging moments, Cowmeadow looks like he genuinely belongs at this level. I’d like to see him involved more regularly as he is physically ready.

Harry McKirdy: 7

McKirdy almost scored a goal-of-the-season contender shortly before his tap in at the end. Three goals in three games for McKirdy – he is making a nice habit of scoring the victory-clinching goal.
