ADVER Sport assess the Swindon Town players in the club’s 3-1 defeat to Bradford City at the County Ground on Saturday.

Jojo Wollacott: 5

Third goal aside – which was offside anyway – Wollacott might feel disappointed he didn’t do better with the first two. Maybe it’s because he’s set such high standards before now, but I felt he was slightly under-par against Bradford.

Akin Odimayo: 6

Odimayo showed a nice bit of drive to get forward in the first half – one of his better qualities – and was dependable at the back, even after his switch to the centre at half-time.

Romoney Crichlow: 3

The Huddersfield Town loanee endured what was easily his worst performance for Swindon since arriving. He almost scored a comedy own-goal and seemed unable to even control the ball at times. Hopefully just a one-off. Subbed.

Mathieu Baudry: 7

Despite struggling on Tuesday against Sutton, Baudry bounced back with style and produced a pretty strong performance overall. Deservedly awarded man of the match by Town sponsors, in my opinion. Booked.

Rob Hunt: 5

Hunt perhaps could have done better with the scramble for the second goal, and his crossing when getting forward wasn’t brilliant. Sacrificed as Town went for broke in the second half. Subbed. Booked.

Louis Reed: 7

As usual, a high-standard performance from Reed. He could have done better during a few long-throws and corners when attempting to win the first ball, but I would ask why he was told to carry out that role when being aerially dominant is not his strong point.

Jack Payne: 7

Payne became more involved as the game went on, sticking his penalty away really well to give Town hope late on. He made runs into the final third to offer support too, with his crossing often going to waste.

Ben Gladwin: 6

Gladwin produced a few decent crosses – including the one that resulted in Town’s penalty – but had little impact otherwise with Bradford’s block meaning he had to try and spray balls to the opposite flank instead. Booked.

Jonny Williams: 6

Williams tried his best to create something out of nothing, but opportunities to do so were few and far between. Taken off after an hour for Gilbert as Garner tried something different – not a popular decision among the fans. Subbed.

Harry McKirdy: 6

I didn’t think it was McKirdy’s most impactful performance. He saw a couple of shots fly off target and a late header well saved, but wasn’t in the game as much as he’d have liked.

Tyreece Simpson: 5

His hold-up play began well, but as time wore on the Bradford centre-halves showed their experience and ensured it would be an extremely quiet day at the office for the 19-year-old.

SUBSTITUTES

Kaine Kesler-Hayden: 7

Kesler-Hayden was bright and dangerous going forward and offered plenty of crosses from the right. I’m really surprised he didn’t start – his attacking instinct and pace might have helped Town deal with the Bradford counter-attack.

Alex Gilbert: 5

The Brentford attacker didn’t really provide the impetus his introduction was supposed to create – instead of busting a gut to get forward, he often sat in midfield and played simple passes.

Jayden Mitchell-Lawson: N/A

Came on too late to receive a rating.
