I AM writing to ask your readers to please support the collection in Swindon town centre on Saturday April 26 for the Humane Research Trust. The trust is a registered charity encouraging and supporting new medical research which does not include the use of animals, with the objectives of advancing the diagnosis and treatment of disease in humans.
In particular the trust supports research involving donated human tissue which it believes fulfils the best ethical and scientific justifications for investigations into human conditions.
The trust focuses upon human models for human diseases which are a permanent benefit to both humans and animals. Some of the projects funded by the trust include bowel cancer, diabetes, eye disease, heart disorders, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, cervical and ovarian cancer, leukaemia and liver disease.
