IN response to the rather ‘selective’ letter from Mr Warner, firstly how about the following: BAA, Scottish Power, Excel, P Thorneycroft, Westlands, GKN, Rover, Jaguar, Land Rover, British Energy, Post Office, to name but a few.

I notice in the paper today the lads from Egypt are moaning about losing £4 billion in lost share prices on firms bought in the UK, must be some firms if they are only one or two! I notice Mr Warner never mentioned over budget problems for the new submarine fleet, which at the moment stand at £900m and there is still at least one if not three to come. Then there is the will, won’t we build, the two new aircraft carriers, which are now over budget and they haven’t even started. If they do build them, the American planes they hope to use aren’t even built yet, let alone flight tested and authorised, so you can bet that will be another budget increase when they do get around to flying them.

Then there is the 2012 Olympics, out of cash support already, so they are eating into cash reserves, the MOD update is about three years behind schedule and over £3 billion over budget. The NHS update is so behind, the update is now being updated and that is about £12 billion over budget. Yes it’s spend, spend Labour as Mr Reeves tells us, the billions spent on Mr Blair’s education, education, education and this week they announce that over 340,000 schoolchildren who have just taken GCSE exams have failed to make the C plus grades.

I hope those who have been here for 10 years remember that, I also hope they remember the lies about Iraq. I remember days when the streets of Swindon were full of rubbish bags, not because of this government following EU directives, but because of the winter of discontent, also queues for the cemetery, remember them Mr Spry?

Remember when the knife figures were fiddled recently to give lower numbers of such crimes, remember when you read of ambulances going round and round the block as they couldn’t drop off the patients as they are over target figures, so they have to wait for another hour etc, did you see the lady patient shoved into a bathroom alongside a walk-in bath and commode because there was no room in the Liverpool hospital. If the gold lost it’s cause in 1971, why didn’t Healey sell it off, to get out of this mess? Remember when Labour went round and sacked workers in a taxi.
