THE good works and achievements of ordinary people are often less conspicuous.
For instance, take a look at page three of a recent All About You supplement of the Advertiser.
Firstly, Peter Burton, who worked for Post Office Supplies but had great talent as an artist. Only after his death can we begin to appreciate the full body of his work, most notably paintings of local landscapes.
Secondly, Michael Iles, who received an engraved silver salver to commemorate 25 years on Covingham Parish Council.
He may have grown old with his parishioners but such dedication suggests a loyal member of the community and someone on whom others can rely.
These are two of many such Swindonians. I applaud them.
