I read with interest the article about the smoking ban and Anne Snelgrove wanting to hear local views. While I was correctly quoted what the article failed to say is that I am a lifelong never smoker and would welcome a complete ban on all tobacco products.

Having said that, I find it quite sad that Anne Snelgrove should introduce a classic emotive Labour Government ploy, of personal experience. There are many of us who have been touched by cancer. However as a politician, she has been elected to represent the views of her constituents.

Mrs Snelgrove is in possession of clear evidence that passive smoking is just an irritant and that state of the art ventilation will remove 96 per cent of all airborne particulates to hospital operating room standard.

Michael Wills is also in possession of this information and I frankly find it incredible that there really can be any doubt on their part and other MPs that such a ban is undemocratic.

In my pub, of 60 respondents only two wanted a complete ban. The rest were perfectly happy with my current arrangements.
