THE author of the letter about St George's day asks why? Why do other countries have National Days. In the US Independence Day is a huge event. I always find it amusing that celebrating our patron saint makes us little Englanders but it's alright for the Scots, the Irish and the Welsh to celebrate theirs.
As for Swindon the author clearly seems to forget there are numerous cultural and ethnic events in Swindon, in fact Swindon is probably as diverse as a town can get. Perhaps they should all be banned also, can't have people being upset can we.
It is time England was more patriotic, we make up the vast majority of the population of the UK, lets be proud of that.
