AFTER experiencing a dour start to 2017 at the County Ground, Town fans finally had something to celebrate last weekend as Tim Sherwood’s side came away from Bolton with a memorable win.

Goals from new loan signing Ben Gladwin and Yaser Kasim secured Swindon’s first-ever win at the Macron Stadium.

The four new signings that arrived last week came straight into the side and made an immediate impact all over the pitch.

The on-loan Chelsea trio of Fankaty Dabo, Charlie Colkett and Islam Feruz all looked up for the fight, with midfielder Colkett making the biggest impression.

Colkett has already made an appearance at the County Ground this season as he played a major role in Bristol Rovers’ win over Town last September as a second-half substitute.

But with Rovers not giving the talented midfielder enough game time, Chelsea ended his loan spell at the Memorial Stadium, leading to his move to Town, a move I’m sure our Bristolian neighbours may regret come the end of the season.

Another who impressed last weekend was serially inconsistent performer Kasim.

I’m not sure if his performance was down to the fact we’re currently in January and he’s showing his best for the visiting scouts, or if he has rediscovered the form that made him hot property a couple of seasons ago.

With a midfield three of an in-form Gladwin, Kasim and talented youngster Colkett, Town’s starting XI is starting to look like a side that can compete and finally provide the fans with some hope for the rest of the season.

With Town finally in full swing in the transfer window, rumours have been rampant with potential signings, with the most recent being returns for former players Paul Caddis and Alan McCormack after both were transfer listed by their clubs.

Signing either of these is a huge outside bet, but if it were even slightly possible, chairman Lee Power should put all his efforts into re-signing McCormack.

The versatile Brentford man would be perfect to add the experience we most desperately need.
