Player of the Season: Matt Taylor

Similar to last season when Lawrence Vigouroux was the standout player amongst a sea of underachievers Matt Taylor has proven to be a class above the rest.

It’s seemed at points this season the 36-year-old midfielder has tried to carry the clubs season entirely on his shoulders, and impressively at points, he succeeded.

Contributing six goals and twelve assists (the most in League Two) the former Pompey man has become a firm fans favourite and hopefully he’ll be around next season.

Young Player of the Season: Various

Due to the number of impressive debuts in recent weeks I’ve been unable to name just one winner of this award. This season we’ve seen many young players grace the County Ground pitch.

Scott Twine, Joe Romanski and Jordan Edwards have all recently made their full Swindon Town debuts and have done themselves and the entire youth set-up at Swindon proud. Let’s hope these three guys along with Jordan Young and Tom Smith get their chance next season.

Most Improved: Luke Norris

After enduring a disappointing first season at the club, the former Gillingham man was handed the number nine shirt this season with big things expected.

Throughout this season those same frustrations fans felt about his performances have resurfaced at times, but over the last few months his importance to the team had become clearer as a shoulder injury ruled him out for the season and as a consequence Town's season started to slowly wind down.

Biggest Underachiever: David Flitcroft

In previous season’s this award has always gone to a player who has disappointed over the past year, and despite their being various names that fit the bill, I’ve gone for the manager who brought them here.

The 44-year-old never endeared himself to the Town faithful with a disappointing summer transfer window and some poor results at the start of his time at the County Ground.

When Mansfield bizarrely came calling I was relieved to see him leave, whilst also knowing our season would possibly suffer as a consequence, which turned out to be the case.
