FOR the fifth year running the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will be hosting its annual Staff Excellence Awards to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements, hard work and dedication shown by staff every day of the year.

One category, the People's Choice Award, is open to patients and service users to nominate staff.

This award is designed to recognise the real difference staff, both at Great Western Hospital in out in the community hospitals and services across Wiltshire, make to patients.

Sue Tucker, Antenatal and Newborn Screening Co-ordinator, based at GWH, won the People's Choice Award last year.  She was nominated by a couple for going above and beyond to provide support when they sadly lost their baby.

Sue said: "I was so pleased to win; it was a real honour to be nominated, especially by a service user.  It validates what you do on a daily basis when someone going through a difficult time makes the effort to nominate."

Has a member of staff gone the extra mile in delivering your care? Have you received great treatment from a team or member of staff? Have you witnessed compassionate care provided to a relative or friend?
