James builds on his hobby for Lego exhibition

Swindon Advertiser: James builds on his hobby for Lego exhibition James builds on his hobby for Lego exhibition

WILTSHIRE’S only permanent Lego exhibition is now open after James Haley turned his hobby into something special.

James, 38, has spent more than 100 hours putting the exhibition together and opening Bricks ‘n’ Pieces at Studley Grange Craft Village, near Wroughton.

Using tens of thousands of pieces, the exhibition, over two levels, includes models of trains, boats, buildings and, topically, a football stadium.

The married father-of-three has been collecting Lego since he was a child. He said: “A childhood hobby has turned into an adult fascination. Opening Bricks ‘n’ Pieces is the realisation of a dream and something I have wanted to do for almost a decade.

“It is the only permanent exhibition of its kind in Wiltshire and I believe it could be the only permanent display of a private collection in the UK.”

Working from photographs of anything from houses to signal boxes, vehicles to stadiums James makes highly detailed models; almost exact replicas of the real thing but in miniature.

Bricks ‘n’ Pieces includes a shop which will sell Lego themed gifts but Lego sets will not be available.
