CRICKLADE Leisure Centre is offering spinning classes after making use of the empty building formerly used by the youth service.

The site is in line for refurbishment in the new year as it becomes part of the new Cricklade Campus, but until then the Cricklade and District Community Association, which took on the leisure centre in 2007, will continue to expand and develop facilities and services.

Gary Walker, centre director, said: “Spinning is a very popular activity and we have wanted to be able to offer it for quite some time.

“It’s a high-intensity exercise and we know a lot of people have wanted us to be able to offer it.

“The first class went really well. It was full and a lot of others have already been fully subscribed too, which is really good news, and people have been calling in to ask when they can sign up.

“This is the latest step to improve facilities and activities.

“It comes just ahead of the proposed significant investment in the facility to create a campus by Wiltshire Council, which is hoped will begin in the spring of next year.”

Most spinning classes are 45 minutes in length, apart from some of the lunch time classes which are 30 minutes long.
