Big Hands will make light work of Newbury meet

THE form of Big Hands Harry got a massive boost last Saturday and he will doubtless be a popular choice in the Betfred “Double Delight” Novices’ Hurdle at Newbury.

Winner of a point-to-point last April, Big Hands Harry made his Rules debut in an Ascot maiden event last month, being beaten six lengths into second by stablemate Royal Boy.

That was an excellent effort against a more experienced rival, who has since gone on to claim Grade One gold in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.

His trainer Nicky Henderson can also hit the mark with Une Artiste in the European Breeders’ Fund/Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Mares’ Novices’ Chase.

The six-year-old was really smart over hurdles, winning the 2012 Fred Winter at Cheltenham before adding a further two Listed successes.

She let down favourite-backers when only second on her chasing bow at Plumpton but set the record straight at Huntingdon and can go on again from there.

Dunlough Bay has been out of luck in three starts so far this term but should put up another good effort in the Betfred “Hat Trick Heaven” Handicap Chase.

Well-beaten on his first effort, Dunlough Bay has claimed minor honours on each of his last two starts, most recently when beaten 10 lengths by Baby Shine on Boxing Day, and there is a race in him off his current mark if things drop right.

Tutchec can bring up his four-timer in the Carraway Finance Handicap Chase at Newcastle.

Nicky Richards’ charge kicked off his winning spree off a mark of 97 at Carlisle last October and now sits on a perch of 123 after subsequently winning twice more at that track.

He will have to contend with a change of venue this time but given a few weeks break after his latest success at the beginning of December, Tutchev can defy his augmented rating.
