Two Cleared Of Kidnapping Stanmore Jeweller

Two men accused of kidnapping a Stanmore jeweller over a £15,000 debt have been cleared by an Old Bailey jury.

Nicholas Tarry and Kristyan Van Der Moir were alleged to have threatened Anil Kerji with a baseball bat before bundling him into the back of a BMW, after blocking a cab in which he was a passenger in an alleyway in Clerkenwell last May.

Mr Kerji, whose full address was withheld in court, owed the money to one of the men's aunts and it was alleged they had told him they were going to "sort this out the old-fashioned way".

But Tarry, of Ilford, and Van Der Moir, of East Sheen, were unanimously acquitted on Friday. Both had denied the charge, claiming Mr Kerji had got into their car of his own free will.
