1st Stratton St Margaret Scouts beat off tough opposition to win a prestigious prize recently. The Les Barnes Hike Trophy is a competition for Scout teams from all over Swindon. It's a test of navigation, stamina, team work and Scouting skills.
The teams have to visit checkpoints along the route and gain points from various tasks that they have to complete. Tasks included working out their position in latitude and longitude, lateral thinking tests, and much more.
The weather was bad on the night of the competition; heavy rain and cold winds, but the Scouts battled through the elements, in great spirits, to record a fabulous victory.
.
Phoenix Archer Explorer Scout Unit, based in Highworth and Stratton won the Explorer section of the Les Barnes hike.
