FOOTBALL may be a young man's sport, but one family has proved that when it comes to watching the beautiful game age is no barrier.

Four generations of the Bradfield family attended Swindon Town's 6-0 thrashing of Port Vale on Saturday, for the first and last time.

Tom, 92, is becoming too frail to continue watching Town games, while great-grandson Callum, four, was making his first visit to the County Ground.

But, for one day only, all four enjoyed the match from the comfort of the Glenn Hoddle hospitality suite together with other family and friends.

The suite had been booked as part of birthday celebrations for Tom's grandson, Wayne, who turned 30 last month.

Tom's son Tony, 58, said: "This is the only time we have all been to a game, and I'm afraid it will be the last.

"My dad is not in a state when he can continue going to watch the team so it was a bit sad.

"But it is nice to know that my little grandson will be coming with us from now on.

"My dad started taking me at the age of seven. I took my son at four, and now Callum has come at the age of four.

"We have had some great times together at Town games and I feel good that it will continue."

Wayne, who now lives in Trowbridge, said that the day couldn't have gone much better than it did.

He said: "It was a great day. I think Callum now has the Town bug so the tradition will continue. He really loved it.

"As one starts the other one stops. That is the way it should be. It was especially nice because my grand-dad and my dad were the ones who started taking me years ago.

"The game was very good. Five nil at half-time - and then a second half goal finished it off quite nicely.

"We had a nice spread and we all saw friends that we haven't seen in a while. We had a nice meal and a magician even stopped by."

Tom, who is originally from Wroughton, says that out of more than 500 Town matches he has attended this was special but remained a close second to the 3-1 League Cup victory over Arsenal at Wembley in 1969.

He said: "It was a pretty good show and was pretty special to have all four generations there.

"I thought Anthony McNamee played very well with Miguel Comminges.

"Callum, was mystified by Town's mascot Rockin' Robin and just kept repeating the family line, Come on Swindon'."
