Memphis meets Melton Mowbray might not have the same ring to it but that's what we get here as Bob Cheevers and Dan Britton take turns to sing of life, love, death, the afterlife and lingerie fetishes. Cheevers is the Memphian, a craggy, Willie Nelson-toned singer who, with choice guitar licks from Dave MacNeill, evokes Beale Street and paddlewheel steamers as well as pointing up Midlanders' alleged penchant for ovine amours. Britton's contribution is equally transatlantic, likening Tony Blair to Crazy Horse before delving into the bodhran-driven murder balladry of Matty Groves. Matters occasionally get rather sentimental but overall this is a genial hour that passes in no time.
