ONE of Swindon’s most popular cultural spots is set to bring a brand new art exhibition to Old Town on Friday.

Each month, Oink Gallery, in Victoria Road, selects an artist whose work is displayed on the gallery’s feature wall.

And throughout April, Bournemouth-born collage artist Adrian Boswell, 59, will be wowing visitors with his unique pieces of art.

The exhibition officially opens on Friday and art lovers from all over Swindon are welcome to attend the launch.

Adrian said: “My work is inspired by three things: Monty Python, Salvador Dali and Hieronymus Bosch. They all represent different types of art. One has the humour, one the surrealism and the other represents darkness – Bosch was very dark.”

Adrian, who splits his time between his studios and galleries in Southampton and London, described his work as “collage art” and explained his creative process.

He said: “The background is always painted with acrylic paint and I use magazines and newspaper cuttings and anything I can find in books.

“I never go on Photoshop because on there you only find what it is you are looking for, whereas when you are rummaging around books you tend to find things you are not looking for.

“I always look forward to exhibitions because I like to share my work and I enjoy being in a creative environment.”

The gallery’s art director Mark Pepperall, 44, was very pleased to be hosting Adrian’s work for the rest of the month.

He said: “I love Adrian’s work and it’s a pleasure to display it on the wall.”

Students from Commonweal School, New College and Swindon College will be meeting Adrian throughout the course of the week before the big unveiling on Friday.

The exhibition opening is from 6.30pm until 9.30 and Adrian’s work will be on display throughout April.

There will be no entry fee, people are encouraged to come in and enjoy themselves.
